Summer Skincare Tips

Long summer days are coming in hot! Here’s how to keep your skin cool as a cucumber all season long:

Switch up your Cleansers

We always recommend both of our cleansers to all customers regardless of skin type. Having a separate exfoliating cleanser and hydrating cleanser gives you more flexible and responsive options as your skin changes throughout the year.

Increased humidity and excess sweating can clog pores and put your oil production in overdrive. When this happens, apply AHA/BHA Exfoliant Cleanser, paying extra attention to oily areas and letting it sit for an extra minute before washing off. Delicate Jojoba beads gently polish the surface of the skin and fruit acids help eliminate deep down oil build-up.

Sun Note: If you’re sunburnt, put a pause on exfoliation and use only your gentle cleanser until your skin is completely healed.

Creme De La Creme Hydrant Cleanser will bring healing relief to dry, dehydrated or irritated skin. This hydro-gel cleanser contains Vitamin E and soothing aloe and algae extracts to calm and nourish. Easily removes dirt and makeup, especially when paired with our reusable Bonni-Pads.

Get Your Vitamin C

Vitamin C is a potent antioxidant that helps protect the skin from free radical damage. While it's not a substitute for SPF, Vitamin C can enhance the effectiveness of your sunscreen and provide an additional layer of defense.

Pat a few drops of Vital C Youth Serum into the skin daily for a brightening boost.

Lighten up spots and hyperpigmentation with Gold Vital C Bright & Light. This 100% stable active serum uses Gold Peptides and Triple Vitamin C to accelerate collagen and cell renewal.

SPF All Day, Every Day

You’ve heard it a million times, so we’ll skip the SPF lecture if you just promise to wear it every day and not just on beach days. Our two formulas for faces offer broad-spectrum protection without feeling heavy or chalky. For those active days in the sun, you should reapply sunscreen every 80-90 minutes, or more often if you’ve been in water.

For Normal-to-Oily skin, we recommend our lightweight formula that won’t clog pores – Creme De Soleil SPF 30

For Dry-to-Aging skin, try our anti-aging formula made with Vitamin C, Green Tea & Avocado Oil – Radiant Vital C SPF 30

Do Your Own Detox

Hot, muggy days lead to excess oil production and clogged pores. Give your skin a deep clean with our Sea-Detox Refining Masque. Bentonite clay draws out dirt and oil and helps firm and tighten the skin. Glycolic and fruit acids exfoliate and brighten, while aloe and sea kelp keep the skin from drying out. Use weekly for glowing results and make sure to chase with a Velvet Cocktail (read below).

When Your Skin Needs a Drink

It’s bound to happen. Too much fun in the sun can leave your skin parched and crispy, or straight up toasted.

Velvet Cocktail Moisture Surge supplies a soothing burst hydration to dry or irritated skin. This aqua blue balm also cools and relieves sunburn. Aloe Vera Gel, Hyaluronic Acid, Japanese Green Tea and Azulene help restore elasticity and damaged collagen. Blend it with your favorite moisturizer for a nightly hydration masque.

You may also like Cucumber Cooler – the soothing tonic we use after extractions in our spa facials. Cucumber, Aloe, Ginseng and Witch hazel comfort irritation and offer healing refreshment for your face.
